We are better than this
by Douglas “DJ” Jorndan
A compelling story about the irrelevance of ethnicity and gender relative to organ transplantation. My life-saving journey into receiving three organ transplants within a 1 year time frame, only through the gift of color blindness. All three of my organs were from someone of a different race and gender.
Douglas “DJ” Jordan, a retiree from the United States Air Force, giving 21 years of service to this country, serving all over the world. Visiting so many countries and experiencing so many different cultures, races and religions, holding several positions in the Air Force ranging from Weapons Specialist to Jazz Vocalist for the Airmen of Note, the premier Jazz Ensemble of the United States Air Force Band. A triple organ transplant recipient, receiving a liver and two kidneys through transplantation, all within a one-year time-frame, a true miracle. My love for family, friends, and music is what makes me “Just Smile” from day to day and my love for my country is what keeps me smiling. A UNOS Ambassador, Donate Life Ambassador, and devout Christian, I am dedicated to spreading the word of GODs unconditional gift of life and love, showing people that we have more in common than we all think.
